Abstract
Reflections by the incoming editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology on the Journal's history and tradition. The Journal has been the primary outlet, published by the American Psychological Association, for research in various fields of personnel and organizational psychology, as well as engineering and consumer psychology. This tradition will continue, with the intention, however, to encourage a broadened base of articles in applied psychology with increasing emphasis upon research on socially relevant problems. The author encourages and discusses manuscript submission, and he takes time to acknowledge his predecessor, Dr. Kenneth E. Clark, as well as other individuals who have contributed to the success of the Journal. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
