Abstract

Examined the convergent and discriminant validity of interview and questionnaire measures of satisfaction and desire in 5 different need categories. Using the Campbell-Fiske multitrait-multimethod framework, the results showed relatively high discriminant and convergent validity for the satisfaction scales, low convergent and moderate discriminant validity for the desire scales. The results suggest that the interview vs. questionnaire controversy is not necessary; and that further work is needed in developing desire scales.
