Abstract

Used data from a questionnaire to compare the need fulfillment and dissatisfaction perceived by 675 commissioned officers at 3 levels of military grade who were serving in command, and 5 different types of staff assignments. Findings show that commanders at all grades were more fulfilled and less dissatisfied than officers in most types of staff assignment. However, the tendency for mean dissatisfaction to decrease with higher organizational rank noted in earlier studies was not found in all staff groups. Significant differences in fulfillment and dissatisfaction were found between individual staff groups. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
