Abstract

Investigated the relevance of selected biographical, physical fitness, and health-status measures for success in Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) training. 293 United States Navy enlisted men in 5 UDT classes participated as Ss. A combination of 5 variables, including a Cornell Medical Index subscale, yielded highly significant cross-validity coefficients with training success. Physical fitness tests were the most important predictors of training success, but prediction also could be enhanced by assessing physical and emotional health status with questionnaire methods.
