Abstract
Used longitudinal data, collected for 3 yrs from a large community general hospital, to assess the validity of retrospective reports of changes in job satisfaction, communication, and coordination. 90 registered nurses answered 2 questionnaires 3 yrs apart. Responses were assessed using correlational and contingency analyses. Although retrospective reports of change did to some extent measure before-after change, it is noted that retrospective measures are not accurate enough to be considered as substitutes for computed-change measures.
