Abstract

Reviews the book, Guidance services , by J. Anthony Humphreys and Arthur E. Traxler (see record 1955-01543-000 ). Brought together here in a single volume are the essential threads of guidance philosophy, history, structure, and procedures so that a textbook now truly exists for the beginning course in guidance. Yet so thoroughly is the purpose accomplished that it may serve equally well as a text for the final course in guidance. The authors have presented a point of view which ranges from the beginnings of guidance to a projected look at the future of guidance services, including straightforward attention to the sociological and psychological bases upon which guidance 1954 operates. In this reviewer's opinion, Guidance Services is a tribute to its field and is a remarkable example of the imminent maturity of guidance programs.
