Abstract

The Minnesota and Warner scales were correlated with material and cultural possession criteria for a sample of 150 urban high school students and 150 rural students. The substantial but not high correlation between the scales and criteria is attributed to the present wide distribution of the criteria possessions in the population, so that they no longer act as adequate socioeconomic differentiators. The Warner scale seems to differentiate more adequately among agricultural occupations than the Minnesota scale. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
