Review of How to choose that college
Journal of Applied Psychology · Volume 37 · Issue 4
Abstract
Reviews the book, "How to choose that college," by C. Dunsmoor and O. Davis (1951). The rapidly expanding number of students considering college training makes the need for materials to assist them with their choices increasingly urgent. This book was written for high school students and their parents to discuss many of the questions which they typically have. It is simply written and attractively illustrated. The authors systematically consider, among other things, such problems as college requirements, application, financial plans, and making good once admitted. Properly handled, this book should make a useful contribution to the literature on guidance. But, because it has been almost oversimplified and condensed, it is doubtful whether it should be turned over to students as the sole and sufficient guide through a difficult terrain.
