Review of Civilian Morale
Journal of Applied Psychology · Volume 26 · Issue 6
Abstract
Reviews the book, Civilian Morale edited by Goodwin Watson (1942). This volume is in five parts as follows: Part one, five chapters, Theory of Morale ; Part two, five chapters, How Morale Develops ; Part three, five chapters, The State of American Morale ; Part four, three chapters, Morale in Industry ; and Part five, one chapter, Recommendations . This is a stimulating book. Much of what is said is speculation while some of the statements are documented with what evidence there is available. The contribution lies in the motivation to get some kind of order out of a field that is fertile but unplowed. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
