Color vision

Abstract
Comments on an article by S. Donald Melville (1944) regarding color vision. The article works up to a final topic which is probably of considerable interest to readers of the The Optometric Weekly , namely, abnormal color vision and tests for color vision. Most of the current tests are described briefly but no thorough-going evaluation is attempted. The only new material is derived from some tests by the author on the treatment of color blind individuals. His interpretation of these results is in hue with other studies which give no indication that color blindness can be altered by dietary or training methods. A list of 89 references is appended, which, while not exhaustive, gives a good sampling of the field. Undoubtedly the article answers very well the purpose for which it was written, namely, that of informing a particular group of professional men concerning a field related to their profession.
