Abstract

Reviews the book, Die Psychologie der Menschenbehandlung im Betriebe, 2nd ed by Franziska Bumgarten (1946). The book discusses the psychology of inter-personal relationships between the executive and the subordinate in industry in a mainly nonquantitative and practical manner. The author presents an extensive study of different types of employers and employees, describing their approach to their work, to their superiors, subordinates, and co-workers. She describes in detail and explains thoroughly their respective reactions at the time which she calls "the critical moment" of their relationships, when an order is given and executed, when control is exercised or submitted to, when a reproof is expressed or received, when a punishment is given or taken.
