Review of Personal problems of everyday life: Practical aspects of mental hygiene
Journal of Applied Psychology · Volume 25 · Issue 6
Abstract
Reviews the book, Personal problems of everyday life: Practical aspects of mental hygiene by Lee E. Travis and Dorothy W. Baruch (1941). The authors have attempted the analysis of the emotional and mental troubles which occur in the lives of everyone of us. The contention is that before facing one's problems, insight must come into what the trouble is and then one is in position to do something about it. The book is divided into three parts. Part One deals with the importance of living, why we suffer in vain, and our worst enemy--mental blindness. Part Two is devoted to particular problems one meets in life situations. Part Three of the book offers encouragement toward helping ourselves. The book is well written and full of sound information for the student.
