Review of A basic text for guidance workers
Journal of Applied Psychology · Volume 33 · Issue 1
Abstract
Reviews the book, A basic text for guidance workers edited by Clifford E. Erickson (1947). Drawing heavily upon Michigan State College guidance instructors as well as upon a variety of guidance experts in other school systems, this text "attempts to portray many different aspects of the guidance program and at the same time to indicate the extent of some of the specializations within the field as a whole." In the preface the editor specifies that the book is intended as a basic or beginning text for training school counselors. In general, the content of the book attempts to give the guidance worker (particularly the secondary school teacher) an over-view of the guidance field including purposes, techniques, and administration of the guidance program.
