Teachers college students and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1945 · Volume 30 · Issue 3
Abstract
The MMPI was taken by 185 unmarried women students; approximately half were enrolled in the general curriculum, the others in music. Results of the testing indicated that both groups were rather stable with slight hypomanic tendencies. No significant differences were found. Schizophrenic trends, which had been previously found to predominate among hospitalized teachers, were lacking in the test diagnoses; however, some slight relationship appeared to be established between the indicated hypomania and the incidence of manic-depressive psychoses reported among hospitalized teachers. The authors are of the opinion that cetain scales of the MMPI might prove useful for the selection of students. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
