Abstract

2 groups of college freshmen, 1 group taking a course in biology, and/or chemistry, or mathematics and the other group taking commercial subjects, were administered the Thurstone Scale on Attitude Toward Evolution at the beginning and at the end of the full-year science courses. Those who took both biology and chemistry were significantly more favorable in their attitude toward evolution when first tested. At the second testing, all groups of students who had studied science were reliably more favorable in attitude toward evolution than the commercial students. 13 references.
