Distress in the outlook of Lancashire and Scottish unemployed
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1934 · Volume 19 · Issue 1
Abstract
Interview rating forms aimed to measure outlook on the future were used with various groups of mental patients and unemployed. Some unemployed become as downcast as mental patients with a negative and catastrophic outlook. "It is felt that a closer study of the relation between the mental patterns of the unemployed and of downcast mental patients should throw light on the mental mechanisms of psychotics, on the nature of differences between normal and abnormal reactions and attitudes."
