Abstract

Four tests were administered to white applicants, between ages 16 and 25, at the Cincinnati Employment Center: Kent-Shakow Industrial Form Board, Minnesota Spatial Relations Test, Minnesota Rate of Manipulation Test, and Cincinnati Plier Dexterity Test. A description is given of these tests as used at Cincinnati, and an analysis of results obtained with the Kent-Shakow test is reported. Separate norms are presented for males and females for each of the 7 parts of the Kent-Shakow. Distributions of scores are reported to be significantly skewed toward the slow end. Analysis based on clinical observation indicates the following factors to be important to success in the test: rapidity of movement; ability to react to shape of block and hole in relation to each other; ability to vary methods and to try new ones; and a factor involving steadiness, poise, concentration. Coefficients of correlation are presented for simple parts of the test with more complicated parts, and for each single part with other parts. A method of shortening the test by omission of some parts is suggested. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
