Abstract

"Four equated groups, of 8 pre-aviation (V5) students each, were taught aircraft recognition in a standardized manner. The major experimental variable in each group was as follows: Group I, –1₅₀" exposure time; Group II, only three views of each plane; Group III, 1" exposure time; and Group IV, presentation of the entire syllabus in almost half the usual time, followed by a review emphasizing confused planes." Results showed that interpolation of the –1₅₀" exposures yielded no advantage, that the method used with Group II resulted in poor generalization, and that probably the technique employed with Group IV is the most efficient.
