A nomograph for estimating the validity of test items
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1941 · Volume 26 · Issue 6
Abstract
The Kelley technique of determining the discrimination value of a test item in terms of the per cent of a high criterion group and the per cent of a low criterion group who passed the item is described briefly. A nomograph for obtaining the D-value directly from the two per cents is presented, and its use is described. "The nomograph greatly reduces the time necessary to estimate D-values or discrimination values and has been found quite adequate in terms of accuracy." The nomograph will be useful also in assigning weights to inventory items. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
