A comparison of earlier and later success in naval aviation training
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1946 · Volume 31 · Issue 5
Abstract
Comparison is made of the early training academic records of 200 cases each of eventual failing and successful air cadets. There were significant differences between the 2 groups on the following criteria: (1) individual courses failed, (2) total number of courses failed, (3) appearing before advisory board for academic difficulty, (4) course grades, and (5) course averages. Therefore, the general policy of discouraging retention of the weak student early in flight training is recommended. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
