Abstract

"Present scoring techniques for the Pressey X-O Test have been analyzed and a scoring stencil is proposed which should reduce the scoring time about one-half. In addition, the scoring accuracy would be increased and the slight printing changes required would improve the appearance and readability of the test. Such a stencil would require that the words be printed in orderly diagonal rows according to word type. Only the words of a single type would be exposed at a single time for purposes of scoring, but the stencil could be easily shifted so as to expose the words of any other type. The general principle of arrangement might be applied to other types of objective tests." (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
