A technique for the construction of attitude scales

Abstract

The scale-discrimination method of attitude scale construction is described. It provides for the selection of a set of items from a large number of possible items to meet the requirements of scale analysis. It is essentially a synthesis of the methods of item evaluation of Thurstone, Likert, and Guttman. Advantages over these methods are discussed. 16 references.
