Abstract

It was found that certain occupations can be judged from hearing the voice of the individual better than chance, some occupations (lawyer, preacher) being judged better than others. In addition, certain voices were found to be occupational stereotypes, as indicated by the consistency of judgments. Suggestions are made as to how these stereotypes could be used to increase the effectiveness of radio programs. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
