The relative importance of containers and labels in determining consumers' preferences for several brands of tomato catsup
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1939 · Volume 24 · Issue 4
Abstract
Customers in a grocery store were asked to express their opinions concerning the general attractiveness of 5 different bottled brands of tomato catsup and the attractiveness of the bottle shape, the label, and the cap of each. The results indicated that the label is the most important factor in the determination of general attractiveness, but that its importance varies with different brands.
