Abstract

The MMPI was administered to 36 veterans who indicated a desire to be embalmers and made this their training objective after counseling. The control group consisted of 100 veterans who came to the same guidance centers for counseling during the same period of time, but who decided upon other vocational objectives. Comparison of the test results from the two groups indicate that there are no strongly deviate personality characteristics among the embalmer trainees. The strongest possibility for an interpretation of uniqueness lies in the elevated hypochondriasis. Other tendencies, which counselors and psychiatrists have suspected, were not substantiated.
