The truth about the lie detector
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1937 · Volume 22 · Issue 1
Abstract
This is one of a series of investigations on the detection of lying with the galvanometric technique. The procedure made use of a series of cards on each of which was printed a word. The subject selected one and responded "No" to all questions as to which word the card contained. A score of 83% correct judgments was achieved. The author points out, however, that the method is dangerous unless used by a competent person. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
