Abstract

This report consists of the validation of the testing program and evaluation of employee counseling at the Caterpillar Tractor Co. A battery of four tests was found to correlate .63 with foremen ratings of job performance. The tests used were the Wonderlic, the Bennet, the Cornell Index, and the Cornell Word Form. For a group of employees who were considered successfully counseled an average duration of employment of approximately 11 months was achieved. For a group of 17 employees considered unsuccessfully counseled, the average duration of employment was only 3.3 months. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
