Abstract

20 superior and 20 inferior readers were picked on the basis of their scores on the reading portion of the Ohio State Psychological Examination. The subjects were then given portions of the Gray Oral Reading Paragraphs Test and during the reading period a "Maico Psychometer" was used to measure changes in palmar skin resistance. The findings indicated that average changes in palmar skin resistance cannot be expected to differentiate superior and inferior readers except as the material becomes comparatively more difficult.
