Some precautions in the use of the per cent method of job evaluation
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1948 · Volume 33 · Issue 6
Abstract
Hay proposes to eliminate the "reduction" operation in the procedure for establishing factor comparison scales by the per cent method of job evaluation. The author warns against the use of Hay's abbreviated procedure. He includes a discussion of the mathematical relations underlying the per cent method. He explains that Hay is not using Weber's law as Hay claims, but a law of Per Cent Judgment which is psychological, but not psychophysical.
