Developing an industrial merit rating scale
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1942 · Volume 27 · Issue 2
Abstract
The merit rating programs of a number of large industrial organizations are reviewed briefly "to illustrate the methods used in developing a rating scale, what a rating scale consists of, and how a rating scale is used." Suggestions are made as to steps leading to a sound rating program, benefits to be derived from it, and the bearing of merit ratings upon employee-management relationships. A bibliography of 39 titles is appended. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
