Abstract

The common procedure which is used to discover whether listening to the radio program of a product increases the sales of that product is to compare the purchases of listeners and non-listeners. However, observation of such a relationship does not indicate the causal relationship between listening and purchasing. A questionnaire method which is designed to reveal more accurately the effects of radio listening upon buying behavior is described, and illustrative data are presented.
