A worry inventory
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1944 · Volume 29 · Issue 1
Abstract
A list of 63 items, based on many personality questionnaires, was presented to 48 females and 52 males of the University of Sydney, Australia. Two scores were obtained, one from those items underlined by the subjects as having ever worried them and one from those items encircled as being a present cause of worry. This inventory proved less difficult to answer and simpler in administration than the usual questionnaire. "Its use tended, possibly under a cloak of anonymity, towards a higher yield of nervous difficulties and a wider field of symptoms, than is usually uncovered by the usual questionnaire method. However, some fair portion of the excellent results is probably due to the direct approach used in the present Inventory." (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
