Abstract

Two sets of scores were obtained from a group of 217 men college juniors. One consisted of the difference between the Quantitative and Linguistic sub-score percentiles of the A.C.E.; and the other, Strong Vocational Interest Test scores. The Q-L distribution was cut to isolate a dominantly quantitative, a dominantly linguistic, and a nearly equivalent group. Primary patterns on the Strong for these groups were compared to see whether aptitude type was associated with differences in interests. No consistent pattern differences were found, and only one difference between proportions was significant. On the basis of results, it was concluded that the hypothesis that vocational interests are conditioned by differential aptitudes was unsubstantiated by the present study.
