Abstract

Reviews the book, Of What Use Are Common People? A Study in Democracy by H. E. Buchholz (1923). The motivation of the book appears to be a strong emotional reaction against the emphasis upon individual differences which has grown out of the mental test movement and in particular against the proposal to adjust education in accordance with mental capacity, and the proposal to combat the excessive fecundity of the less intelligent classes by the spread of the knowledge of birth control. No organized data and no scientific criticism are used in the course of the somewhat rambling argument. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
