Abstract

Reviews the bulletin, Diagnosis and treatment of young school failures by Helen T. Woolley and Elizabeth Farris (1923). Both the teacher and the psychologist will appreciate this picture of what may be accomplished with young school failures. Children were grouped for study into four dominant causes of their difficulties, as neglected children; high-grade defectives; special defects in some one subject; and psychopathic children. Each type is reported in the bulletin separately and each case is very completely reported, giving many helpful points in understanding such children. The entire article is a plea for proper treatment and classification of exceptional children. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
