Review of The Psychology of Selecting Men
Journal of Applied Psychology · Volume 10 · Issue 1
Abstract
Reviews the book, The Psychology of Selecting Men by Donald A. Laird (1925). Dr. Laird gives an animated presentation of the difficulties and methods of employment psychology. Problems are not merely described--they are also concretely set before the reader in some apt and diverting manner. After chapters on individual differences and the difficulties these provide in selection, some of the traditional methods of selection are reviewed critically. The role of the charlatan is vigorously exposed, accompanied again by concrete samples,--reproductions of fakir advertisements and announcements which are denounced in no mincing terms.
