Abstract

Reviews the book, About Ourselves--Psychology for Normal People by H. A. Overstreet (see record 1928-00550-000 ). This book is composed of lectures delivered to a large group of business and professional men and women in the New School of Social Research, and it bears the marks of such an origin. Diffuse enough to be listened to continuously without excessive effort, distinctly personal, and with considerable emotional appeal, it carries the reader along with a sense of sympathetic rapport. There are two "Parts"--"Towards Unreality" and "Towards Reality." There is much to give useful insight to the beginner, and for the expert a good many refreshing reminders. The present reviewer finds that the book arouses interest amongst a class of beginners in mental hygiene. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
