Abstract
Reviews the book, Youth and the open door by George Ross Wells (1922). The purpose of the author is to present to young students certain laws of mental life whereby they may realize the largest benefits possible from their four years in college. With this point in mind, the author has discussed instinct, habit, remembering, attention, interest, thinking, emotions, causes of failure, choice of vocation, and character and temperament. The discussion of these topics is non-technical in character, and is designed to make effective certain laws of psychology. On the whole the book is well written and places its message before the reader in an effective manner. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
