Abstract

The source of the data reported here was Who's Who in America (1924-1925). Tabulations from 1,000 names were made. Of the eminent persons in America, who, in their biographies in Who's Who, confess allegiance to one or the other of the two major parties, 25.3% are Republicans and 11.5%, or less than half that number, are Democrats. The majority of eminent Americans appear to be politically indifferent. Among the eminent Americans who acknowledge party membership, Republicans are found to be more than twice as numerous as Democrats. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
