Abstract

Compares 270 school children from a poor rural district and 268 school children from a fairly good agricultural district with 2800 city children. The result showed that (1) country children rated about a year and a half in mental age below city children (2) the children in a good farming district averaged above children in a poor farming district and (3) the usual type of intelligence tests did not give adequate measure of the ability of country children. Emphasizes the need for performance tests and materials more relevant to the environments of the country children. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
