Abstract

The Goddard form-board was used, the task consisting in having the subject get all the blocks back into their proper recesses as quickly as possible. Warming-up effects were found in about 40% of the records obtained. More skilled subjects showed as much of the warming-up effect as did relatively unskilled subjects. Conditions tending to make the subject keenly alert and determined to do his very best at the outset tended to lessen the frequency of occurrence of the warming-up effect.
