Abstract

Investigates the records of the applicants for positions at the Dayton, Ohio, Free Employment Office to find (1) whether the educational attainments of the applicants had changed during the period 1916 and 1917 (2) whether there was any change in the type of men with regards to education and (3) more about the changes and the men causing changes. There was a relative decrease in the number of men with education less than an eight grade education. Concluded that there were a relatively large number of eighth grade and first-year high school men applying at the end of the year as compared to the beginning of the year. Also noted that employers selected men with the better education. The number of poorly educated men did not decrease but their relative importance was decreasing.
