Abstract

It is the opinion of the authors that the name "multiple choice" is a misnomer, as, conventionally, only one choice per test item is recorded and scored. They believe, however, that the indication of more than one choice on a multiple response test of a few carefully selected items is of more value for prognostication than a test of many items in which only the first choice is recorded. How these shall be scored must be determined by statistical evaluation. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
