A plan for the technical training of Consulting psychologists
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1917 · Volume 2 · Issue 1
Abstract
Discusses the demand for technically trained consulting psychologists. Proposes a plan for standardizing the term, 'Consulting Psychologists' and for the uniform training of consulting psychologists. The plan involved both qualitative and quantitative differentiation. Suggests a uniform undergraduate course of three years in a smaller college, to be followed in the senior year by a more specialized professional course at some larger university. Proposes the conferring of a graduated series of titles parallel to three regular collegiate degrees. Recommends a qualitative subdivision of the various fields of applied psychology for more intensive specialization and preparation, along such lines as commerce, law, education, mental hygiene and others.
