The Relation Between the Intelligence and Vocational Choices of High School Pupils
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1922 · Volume 7 · Issue 2
Abstract
After conducting a research in the public schools of Hartford, Conn., the investigator concludes that only about 46 per cent of high school pupils make proper vocational choices—choices that can be realized by them and which they will pursue with maximum satisfaction and efficiency. About 47 per cent make choices beyond their mental reach. About 7 per cent underrate their ability by choosing vocations that lie considerably below their own mental level. The vocational guide should acquaint himself with the intelligence of the pupils to whom he would give vocational advice. From Psych Bulletin 21:07:00714.
