Mentality testing of college students
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1916 · Volume 1 · Issue 1
Abstract
Focuses on the demand for mentality testing of students and problems faced by psychologists in doing so. The demand for measurement of merits of college and university students were based on 6 needs (1) selection of students for admission (2) classification of students (3) determination of aptitude and abilities for educational-vocational guidance (4) diagnosis of student failure (5) cooperation with the placement bureau and (6) measurement of results of instruction. Also explored the nature, amount and causes of individual differences. To facilitate the psychologists to fulfill the demand of testing, a three-step cooperative program was given: (a) assembly of scattered information (b) selection of a small group of tests for uniform comparison and (c) inter-laboratory cooperation on research problems. Various research areas have been suggested. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved)
