A fourth method of checking results in vocational selection

Abstract
Compares vocational guidance and selection in terms of purpose, procedure and certainty of results. Three methods for checking the results in vocational selection have been given: (1) Firm Rank, where the executive ranks worked and compares with test results (2) Ringer, that is to have experienced men tested with the applicants and (3) comparing the ratings received in the tests with later accomplishments. However, all three methods had inadequacies, of difficulty faced in inducing executives to Firm Rank and vocational accomplishments were unavailable and the unsuccessful Ringer was unwilling to take the tests. Hence, a fourth method was given to check the tests called Applicants-Experts method. Applicants were individuals who would later fail, while experts had succeeded. 20 managers and 110 applicants were given the tests. Results showed that eight tests were labelled as 'applicants' and five as 'managers'. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
