Abstract
Five different measures are studied by the partial and multiple correlation technique. The scores and grades were obtained from 207 Ohio University students, chiefly freshmen. These were (1) average grade on 14 objective tests in general psychology, (2) final examination in general psychology (May's), (3) score on Form A of the Otis Self-Administering Test of Mental Ability, (4) average semester grade in college excluding psychology, (5) average high school grade. At best only a moderate relationship is shown to exist between our present measures of educational achievement and mental ability. Certain advantages of the objective examinations are indicated. The utility of the final examination in psychology is questioned. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
