Abstract
40 samples of the same sentence as written in the handwriting of 18 men and 22 women were related as masculine or feminine by 24 judges. A second set of judgments was obtained two weeks after the first, in order to test reliability. Untrained persons are able to determine the sex of writers correctly roughly twice in every three judgments. Samples of the penmanship most often judged masculine or feminine are given, and their characteristics described. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
