Association - reactions applied to ideas of commercial brands of familiar articles
Journal of Applied Psychology · 1916 · Volume 1 · Issue 3
Abstract
Tests the hypothesis that advertising influences people to buy a particular commercial brand of article. 300 Ss were required to respond with the first brand which occurred to them and the reasons for buying that brand upon hearing the name of 20 articles. Results showed that the fewer the brands of an article known, the more widely one or two brands of that article were known. Out of the reasons given, advertising was the second most frequent reason for recalling commercial brands. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
